Antoine Poggi, Senior Consultant

Senior Consultant with over 40 years of experience in the Canadian Construction Industry in general, and in the Heavy Electrical Installation in particular. An expert in estimating, construction management and administration, project controls and personnel indoctrination and training.

The author of the Electrical Estimating Manual used all over Canada by the members of the Canadian Electrical Contractors Association. His services are retained periodically by many Electrical Associations across the country to conduct seminars on the subjects of Estimating and Construction Practices. He is also a member of the Canadian Association of Cost Engineers and the Quebec Arbitration and Mediation Institute.

BUSINESS EXPERIENCE

Antoine Poggi joined Bedard Girard Ltd. (A Quebec Electrical Contractor) in 1957 as an estimator. Between 1957 & 1975, Mr. Poggi gained valuable experience and implemented several procedural and technical improvements while working as estimator, senior estimator, and manager of the estimating department. These improvements were brought to the attention of the Canadian Electrical Contractors Association which invited Mr. Poggi to publish his estimating methods in an all encompassing manual.
After the merger with Checo in 1975, Bedard Girard became BG Checo, one of the biggest electrical and mechanical contractors in Eastern Canada. At the same time, Mr. Poggi was appointed Assistant to the General Manager of BG Checo, in charge of estimating, projects control and administration. In 1978, he took over as General Manager of construction activities, and later on promoted to Vice President of operations.

In 1989, he was retained by BG Checo’s new parent company, CEGELEC Enterprises Ltd., as a Management Consultant to ensure adherence of its North American subsidiaries to sound administrative and management practices.

In 1992, Mr. Poggi formed his own company, Estimelec Ltée, which specialises in providing consulting services to construction contractors in the field of estimating and resolution of construction disputes as well as in conducting training courses in all facets of construction activities.

Since 1996, Mr. Poggi is an associate consultant with A.I.D. Consultants Ltd., a Montreal based engineering and construction management firm.
